What to Expect Before and After Cosmetic Surgery at the Brampton Cosmetic Surgery and Medical Spa

Undergoing cosmetic surgery – whether a breast augmentationliposuction, or tummy tuck – can be a life changing decision. It’s important to research and understand your options, ensuring you approach the procedure feeling prepared.

We’ve put together this guide to help you get ready for your treatment at the Brampton Cosmetic Surgery Center and Medical Spa.

Your Pre-Treatment Consultation

After you’ve narrowed your choices down to two or three cosmetic surgeons in your area, it’s time to schedule consultations with each one so you can see the office and meet the staff.

When meeting with your cosmetic surgery consultant and cosmetic surgeon, you can expect to discuss topics including:

  • Your complete medical history, including any medications you have taken in the past or are currently taking. You’ll also receive a full explanation of any areas of concern.
  • Details about the procedure you’re considering, including where and how it will be performed and the risks associated with it. It’s important you also ask how risks will be handled and confirm your surgeon has out-of-hospital admitting privileges.
  • Expected recovery times, including downtime and expectations for healing.
  • How you’ll pay for your treatment. Some cosmetic surgery clinics do offer financing, which is something you should look into if that’s of interest to you.

After Your Cosmetic Surgery Procedure

Recovery times will vary by procedure and patient, which is why it’s important to develop a thorough understanding of what you can expect after your cosmetic surgery.

Some general expectations include:

  • Expect Downtime: Depending on the severity of your procedure, you should expect to spend a few days taking it easy. Full recovery can take much longer – anywhere from a few days to a few weeks or months – depending on the invasiveness of the procedure.
  • Take Steps to Manage Pain: These days, any pain you experience after a cosmetic surgery procedure can be easily managed with medication. For non-invasive procedures, you’ll likely experience minor irritation – whether light swelling, bruising, or a sunburn-like sensation. An over-the-counter pain killer and ice pack are usually enough to take care of that. For more invasive procedures, you might require stronger medication to manage pain.
  • Care for Your Skin: You’ll need to find a gentle, soothing, and hydrating skincare solution tailored to your unique needs. PCA, for example, has a line of skincare designed for post-surgery skin. It’s important to stay out of the sun, protect your skin with broad-spectrum sunscreen, and avoid hot tubs and saunas.

To guarantee the best results, work with a caring, experienced cosmetic surgeon. If you have questions or concerns as you’re preparing for or healing from your cosmetic surgery procedure, reach out to them for advice and guidance.
