Facial Injections and Fillers

Facial injections (sometimes called dermal fillers, non-surgical facelifts, or liquid facelifts) are used to rejuvenate the look of your skin by addressing a range of needs including:

  • Adding volume and fullness to target areas.
  • Softening lines, creases, folds, and wrinkles.
  • Enhancing the natural contours of your face.
  • Improving visual symmetries.

The dermal fillers Brampton Cosmetic uses for your face are all made with hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring substance already found in your body’s skin, muscles, and tendons. It plays a critical role in helping your skin retain moisture, though unfortunately it gradually disappears as you age and due to prolonged exposure to sunlight. Wrinkles and facial folds develop as a result, causing your skin to lose its youthful appearance and glow.

How Do I Choose the Right Facial Filler?

The best way to determine the type of dermal filler that will be right for you is to speak to a trained, experienced medical professional.

During your consultation at the Brampton Cosmetic Surgery Center and Medical Spa, an Injection Specialist will speak with you about what you would like to achieve and any specific skin concerns you may have. With that information, they will be able to recommend the dermal filler that is best suited to address your needs and give you glowing, rejuvenated skin.

Frequently Asked Questions about Facial Fillers

How are facial injections done?

An experienced injection specialist oversees filler treatments to ensure your safety and comfort. Similar to Botox, the injections are given after treatment areas are cleansed. The procedure is done as patients lay on an exam table in a slightly raised position or sit upright.

The length of each procedure depends on the patient’s desired outcomes and the condition of treatment areas.

Will receiving the injection hurt?

Your face is sensitive, which is why it is normal to feel slight pain (typically a pinching sensation) the first time the needle enters you skin. Our injection specialists can apply a topical numbing cream to reduce discomfort. All the dermal fillers we use also contain lidocaine, a medication used to numb the tissue and make the overall procedure more comfortable.

Should you feel any excessive pain, tell the injection specialist.

Are there risks associated with facial injections and fillers?

Facial injections can cause some minor side effects including swelling, itchiness, bruising, and mild pain. Conditions should subside within the first two weeks (often within the first few days).

If symptoms worsen, contact us.

When can I return to work and begin normal activities?

We recommend avoiding strenuous activities, not sleeping on the injection site, and advise you to rest with the head elevated immediately after the procedure.

Overall, dermal injections don’t require much downtime. We encourage you to return to work and daily activities once symptoms subside.

Can I receive facial injections if I am prone to or have cold sores?

If you suffer from the herpes simplex virus (cold sores), please make sure you advise us. We will ask you about this prior to your treatment and on your health questionnaire.

In most cases we would advise against receiving lip injections if you have active cold sores, as that can cause the rashes to spread. If the virus has been dormant for some time, we still require that you take any medication that has been prescribed both before and after any treatment sessions to reduce the risk of reactivating it. Brampton Cosmetic can provide you with a prescription for an antiviral medication if required.
