At Brampton Cosmetic, we offer both Botox and Dysport treatments that can help to relax and minimize facial lines and wrinkles. Botox is also approved and indicated by Health Canada to treat excessive sweating (hyperhidrosis).

Botox

Physicians and other healthcare professionals have performed Botox treatments for more than 50 years. Because it’s a drug that can cause unwelcome side effects if administered improperly, a qualified injection specialist must handle your treatment sessions.

The procedure is done to block chemical signals that force muscles to contract. By doing so, the injections relax facial muscles that cause wrinkles.

Botox injections are used to treat:

  • Crow’s feet
  • Frown lines between the eyebrows
  • Forehead wrinkles
  • Excessive sweating
  • A variety of other conditions

Before and After – Botox Treatment Results

Though facial lines are natural after years of crinkling, wrinkling, and sun exposure, they grow pronounced and may become permanent over time (even when the face is in a resting position). This is especially true for people with animated expressions or habits like smoking and tanning.

After your Botox treatment, you will see facial lines soften. This gives you a more youthful appearance and relaxes the look of your face.

You can expect to see optimal results in two weeks. Botox must be re-administered every three to four months by a qualified injection specialist.

Hyperhidrosis (Excessive Sweating) Treatment

Excessive sweating, defined as sweating beyond what’s necessary to cool the body, is a medical condition that affects almost one million Canadians every year. Unfortunately, it is often unpredictable and happens regardless of what the temperature is or what someone is wearing. This can impact a person’s self-confidence and their day-to-day life (clothing choices, personal relationships, and social interactions).

Treating Hyperhidrosis

At Brampton Cosmetic, we treat areas affected by hyperhidrosis with Botox, a focal injector that blocks signals between the nerves and the sweat glands. When sweat glands don’t receive these signals, sweating is reduced to a normal rate. Patients typically enjoy this relief for about six months. After that, another Botox treatment will be needed.

If you have a private health insurance plan, treatment for hyperhidrosis is covered through extended benefits.

Dysport™ Injections

Dysport is a prescription drug administered by injection, which blocks signals sent from certain nerves. This relaxes the facial muscles that cause expressions like wrinkling.

Dysport benefits patients without altering overall facial appearance. Only the targeted areas are affected.

Before and After – Dysport Treatment Results

Before treatment, patients suffer from wrinkles at an early age. This is because, over time, the muscles in your face repeatedly contract and tighten. The effects of these movements can be prominent for many people and can ultimately become permanent.

After a Dysport treatment (or treatments), patients can expect a noticeable improvement in facial lines and wrinkles.

The more youthful look has been clinically proven to last up to four months.

Frequently Asked Questions about Botox and Dysport

How are Botox and Dysport injections done?

Patients lay on an exam table, in a slightly raised position, for the specialist to treat injection areas with a cleanser. After, Botox or Dysport is injected into these areas. A very fine-gauge needle is used to administer Botox and Dysport, minimizing any discomfort.

The specialist can treat more areas, depending on your desires and the types of wrinkles you have.

How will I feel after Botox or Dysport injections?

Especially if it is your first time having Botox or Dysport injections, your face is going to feel different. You might find certain expressions more difficult to make, and your facial muscles will feel more relaxed. These changes will all feel natural and normal for you after only a few weeks.

Remember that the majority of people will not be able to notice or tell that you had Botox or Dysport. Only someone who has undergone Botox or Dysport themselves might know, while to most your complexion will simply look more youthful and radiant. This is due in large part to the fact that the injection specialists at Brampton Cosmetic take great care not to over-administer Botox or Dysport. That is what can make you look and feel “frozen”, something we strive to avoid with all of our patients.

How are hyperhidrosis treatments done?

Patients lay on an exam table, in a slightly raised position, for the specialist to treat injection areas with a cleanser. After, Botox is injected into the targeted spots.

A very fine-gauge needle is used to administer Botox, which minimizes any discomfort.

Depending on the areas that excessively sweat, you may receive injections in your feet, hands, and underarms.

What are the types of hyperhidrosis?
  • Primary hyperhidrosis:Also called focal hyperhidrosis, it affects specific areas such as the underarms, palms, feet, and face. It usually begins in childhood or adolescence and is caused by a malfunction within the sympathetic nervous system. This malfunction overstimulates the nerves that cause sweat glands to secrete.
  • Secondary hyperhidrosis:Also called generalized hyperhidrosis, it typically affects the entire body. It is caused by certain medications or conditions such as infections, menopause, metabolic disorders, and neurological disorders.
When can I return to work and begin normal activities?

After your treatment, you should avoid lying down and exercising for at least four hours.

If you are concerned about bruising or if you are prone to it, we may recommend applying a topical anti-bruising ointment like an arnica lotion or gel.

You can return to work and your daily routine whenever you feel comfortable.

Can Botox and Dysport be used as preventative treatments?

Botox and Dysport can be used to help treat fine lines for patients even in their early twenties, preventing minor creases from developing into more noticeable and long-lasting wrinkles.
